Welcome to

Yeshiva Ateres Shmuel
of Waterbury

Yeshiva Ateres Shmuel of Waterbury fosters greatness in aspiring Bnei Torah irrespective of where one may have found themselves prior to joining the Yeshiva. Under the leadership its Rosh Hayeshiva, Rabbi Ahron Kaufman, Waterbury has demonstrated that every single young adult has the ability to attain the highest levels of scholarship and personal character if only they be given the chance to believe in themselves.
The Bochurim of Waterbury stretch the limits. From the moment they enter the halls of the Yeshiva they are enveloped with the drive to shatter all expectations and to rise to the top in Torah and Avodah. The Yeshiva operates multiple divisions, each uniquely suited for boys at different stages in life, yet at its core is a real belief in every Bochur.

HOW A YESHIVA BUILT A COMMUNITY

When Rabbi Ahron Kaufman was mandated by the Gedolei Yisroel to build a community in Waterbury, he was instructed to build a Yeshiva.
“Go to Waterbury and build a Yeshiva,” they told him. “The community will emerge around the Yeshiva.”
Today, twenty years later, Waterbury is a proud and thriving Torah community, centered around the Ohel Mo’ed of Yeshiva Ateres Shmuel.

Alumni

The Waterbury Legacy lives far beyond the walls of the Yeshiva, and well beyond the years spent learning there. Waterbury’s alumni have grown substantially over the years, and have formed communities of their own where they continue to nurture the growth that began in Yeshiva and keep close bonds. We are proud that many of the alumni have assumed prominent positions in both harbotzas Torah and community involvement.

Yeshiva Ateres Shmuel
Community

What is most unique to Waterbury, perhaps, is that the Yeshiva has formed a Torah community centered around the Yeshiva.
Several hundred families, shuls, kollelim and elementary schools make up the infrastructure of this small yet vibrant community where true Torah ideals reverberate through every aspect of life in Waterbury. Today, Waterbury has its own Hatzolah, Bikur Cholim and Chaverim all as a direct byproduct of the Yeshiva and its alumni living in the neighborhood.
